08:37, 118057 – Leaving Manning River
09:15 to 10:15, 118078 – Galvin Gorge
WOW! This Judy’s imaginary meditation place! (Except for the Boab tree at the top of the cliffs).
Judy had a great swim here and Brian took photos and found some aborijinal artwork.
This is a very special place.
10:37 to 11:30, 118100 – Adcock Gorge
This walk in was a real efffort over rocks and climbing over boulders, to end up in a gorge not nearly as special as Galvin Gorge.
12:00 to 13:00, 118149 – Imintji
This was a very welcome lunch stop.
14:24, 118248 – Lennard River Snack Stop
This was a very welcome chocolate icecream stop.
We also saw many small barramundi swimming in the river mear the store.
We took a couple of photos of the different types of termite mounds on the way back out on the Gibb River Road.
16:30, 118369 Home again to our caravan in Derby
Thoughts Over the last three days we’ve travelled 783k on the Gibb River Road and the other side trips off it. We have now done the western half of the road from Derby to Mt Barnett and will check out the Eastern end from Kununurra later in the trip.
It’s not nearly as difficult as everyone makes it out to be as we were able to average 80k/hr most of the time on the main road. The problem areas though were the side trips where the roads weren’t maintained with frequent wet and dry creek crossings.
I love your photos – there are some wonderful ones. I was looking for one of the Lennard River crossing café whch you mention but I couldn’t find one. The owner is a great character.
We drove from Kununurra via the Bungle Bungles where I spent my 80th birthday with two strenuous walks and a heli-ride over them which was fabulous. We went via El Questro then to Broome along the Gibb River Road.
